J. Columcille Dever

Brief Biography:
J. Columcille Dever grew up in Raleigh, NC earned his B.A. in Philosophy and Classics, while minoring in Philosophy and Literature at the University of Notre Dame (2011). He earned his M.T.S. from Duke Divinity School in 2015 with a focus on Early Christian Studies (Latin, Greek, and Syriac). He earned his Ph.D. in the History of Christianity (Early and Medieval) from the University of Notre Dame in 2021, where he also studied Systematic Theology. He joined the Theology Department at Providence College in 2023, after teaching in the Honors Program at Creighton University in Omaha, NE from 2021-22. Dr. Dever married Katie M. O. Dever in 2015 and they have three children, James (b. 2017), Brigid (b. 2019), and Fiona (b. 2023), all of whom love being a part of the Friar Family!
