Research

Father Petri’s research centers on the fundamental moral theology of St. Thomas Aquinas. He is interested in bringing the thought of the Angelic Doctor into dialogue with contemporary trends in moral theology. His doctoral dissertation, for example, highlighted the Thomistic foundation for Blessed John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. Fr. Petri has published articles offering a Thomistic analysis of various ethical issues from embryonic stem cell research (published in The National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly) to the debate on lying in the pro-life movemenet (upcoming in Nova et Vetera).
